Tata Comm launches international HD voice termination service
Availability of HD voice service means users get clearer calls with less background noise.
Tata Communications has introduced international High Definition (HD) voice termination service. The new service will help Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to route international HD calls through end-to-end IP, without transcoding. According to the company, the new service will ensure users get full HD experience while calling HD-compatible destinations internationally.
Tata Communications reveals its network is connected to 210 mobile operators through IP voice interconnect and 26 of them are HD-ready. As many as four operators have already installed HD voice on its network.
“Our focus on improving voice quality through innovations such as HD voice has led to 28% year-on-year volume growth from key retail service providers (MNOs and OTTs). We will leverage our community of IP-connected MNOs to quickly enable HD voice calls between the widest possible range of destinations, maximising the benefits of premium call quality for our partners and their end users.” Tata Communications President ( Global Voice Solutions) Michel Guyot is quoted as saying.
Availability of HD voice service means users get clearer calls with significantly reduced background noise. The company says the HD voice service will also help MNOs increase their revenues on premium international calling and high-margin roaming.
“The improved quality of HD voice simulates a sense of being in the same room during a telephone conversation; hence, users are likely to spend longer on calls. A better calling experience also gives mobile operators a competitive advantage over OTT providers in terms of quality of service”, the company says in a release.
