Apparently, Spice is aiming at the entry-level smartphone segment, which is dominated by Android. While Google prepares for Android One platform, Firefox is ready with its ultra low-cost phones.

Spice today officially launched its Firefox OS-based smartphone Spice Fire One Mi FX1 smartphone. Priced at Rs. 2,229, the new Spice smartphone comes with 2G and dual-SIM connectivity options.

The Spice Fire One Mi FX1 is powered by a 1GHz processor and features a 3.5-inch display with 480×320 resolution. The smartphone has a 2MP primary camera, a 1.3 MP front camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and will come bundled with a free silicon cover.

The smartphone comes preloaded with social networking and instant messaging apps like Facebook, Twitter and Connect A2. It also supports several Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil and Bengal.

Spice's new ultra low-cost smartphone comes shortly after Intex launched its sub-2k Firefox based smartphone called the Cloud FX. The Cloud FX is also a dual-SIM phone with 2G connectivity.

The Spice Fire One will be exclusively availble on Snapdeal.com for a limited period of time and will then be made availble through major retail stores, Spice HotSpot Stores and Saholic.com
