The Sony Xperia Z Ultra 6.4-inch Android phablet is now available in India via online retailers.

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra phablet that was recently listed as ‘coming soon’ on online store Saholic, is now available for Rs. 44,990. Saholic is promising a delivery time of 7 days in Delhi for the smartphone. Infibeam also has the phablet listed at the same price, with a 5-6 day delivery time.

The Xperia Z Ultra has a 6.4-inch screen, which is one of the biggest we have seen. The phone weighs at 212 grams making it one of the heaviest phablets in the market but at 6.5 mm thick it is also among one of the slimmest handsets today.

The smartphone looks similar to the Xperia Z and has a scratch-resistant and shatterproof glass. It also has a waterproof and dust resistant body that can withstand staying in water for up to thirty minutes. The phone has a 6.4-inch full HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels display resolution and 344ppi pixel density. Users can also input data via stylus and pencils in this phablet.

The smartphone comes with a customized UI that is more suited to its large screen and runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.2 OS. It has a quad-core 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU with 2GB of RAM and 16 GB of built-in storage expandable up to 64GB via MicroSD card support. The Xperia Z Ultra has an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and HDR for videos and photos. It also has a 2MP front facing camera for video calling.

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra will compete with devices like the Huawei Ascend Mate and the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 launched earlier this year. Although the Xperia Z Ultra has better specs the hefty price tag may be a deterrent for some. Sony has recently announced a price drop in its Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL smartphones. It has also announced the ‘Big Xperia Exchange’ offer which includes a minimum discount of Rs. 5,000 if the user exchanges their old handset for a Sony Xperia Z or ZL.
