Sony Xperia XZs features company's new Motion Eye camera system capable of recording 960fps super-slow motion videos at 720p resolution

Sony will announce the Xperia XZs, successor to last year's Xperia XZ at an event in India later today. The smartphone was officially introduced at the Mobile World Congress last month alongside the company's flagship Xperia XZ Premium. The new Xperia XZs is also the first smartphone to be equipped with the company's new Motion Eye camera system.

Sony Xperia XZs is one of the first smartphones to be capable of recording 960fps super-slow motion videos at 720p resolution. Sony is making it possible by embedding additional memory to the Xperia XZs' imaging system. Sony says the extra memory will help the camera shoot with zero lag and faster autofocus. The XZs features the same triple-sensor system first seen in last year's XZ but with a resolution of 19 megapixels. There is an ExmorRS sensor with 25mm wide Sony G Lens and f/2.0 aperture. It supports 4K video recording, 8x digital zoom and supports maximum ISO of 12800.

The Xperia XZs offers a design similar to its predecessor with metal back and IP68 water/dust resistance. The smartphone features a 5.2-inch full HD display with Gorilla Glass 5 on top and is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor. There is 4GB RAM and Sony might introduce the device with 32GB base storage. The device also supports external storage upto 256GB via microSD card slot.

There is a 13MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture and 22mm focal length. The front sensor with 1.12 micron pixel size is also capable of recording 1080p videos. The smartphone supports 4G VoLTE and houses a 2900mAh battery. The Xperia XZs uses USB-C port and offers 3.5mm audio jack with a dedicated mic for noise cancellation. The handset runs Android 7.0 Nougat and will likely be available in black, blue and silver colour options.
