While the Sony Xperia Miro has been available online in India since last week, the Japanese giant has officially launched the device in India today, pricing it at Rs. 15,249 (MRP).

Those who had bought the device online will be happy to note they did not pay a premium for early availability, as the Xperia Miro was available for Rs. 14,499. An entry-level offering from Sony, the Xperia Miro runs on Android 4.0 ICS, and is powered by an 800MHz processor (MSM7225A chipset) and Adreno 200 GPU, coupled with 512MB of RAM.

Other specifications of the Sony Xperia Miro include a 3.5-inch LED-backlit LCD display with a 320x480 pixels resolution, 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash, VGA front-facing camera, 4GB of built-in storage (2.2GB user accessible), microSD storage expandability up to 32GB, along with a 1,500 mAh battery rated to deliver up to 470 hours of standby time, 5 hours of talktime, and 36.5 hours of continuous music playback.

In terms of connectivity, the Xperia Miro supports 3G (HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps; HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, microUSB, GPS with A-GPS support, 3.5 mm jack and stereo FM radio with RDS. It also features an accelerometer, proximity sensor, and digital compass.

The Xperia Miro is available in two colours - white and silver. It weighs in at 110 grams, and is 9.9mm thick. Other features of the Sony Xperia Miro include Xperia Timescape UI, illumination alerts and xLOUD audio boosting technology. The device has various pre-loaded apps such as Google Voice Search, Google Talk, Google Talk video chat, Google Mail and Google Maps.

What do you think of the Sony Xperia Miro? With its performance and power package, will it be able to compete with other devices (such as the Galaxy Ace Plus, Lumia 710, and Motorola Defy Plus) in the same price range?
