It looks like Samsung is finally gearing up to launch a paid subscription for its AI-powered smartphones, but it might not be exactly what we are expecting. According to ETNews, Samsung Electronics vice chair Han Jong-hee has confirmed that the AI Subscription Club, which launched in December 2023 for some Samsung home appliances in South Korea, will soon expand to include Galaxy smartphones. “We will apply the subscription service to Galaxy smartphones starting next month,” Han stated.

The service will also be available for Samsung’s upcoming Ballie AI robot, a smart companion device set to debut in South Korea and the United States. “Ballie will be introduced first in Korea and the US, and we plan to supply it as a subscription in Korea,” Han added.
The ‘AI Subscription Club’ is a service that enables consumers to access products for a set period by paying a monthly subscription fee. This approach reduces the upfront cost of purchasing, making Samsung Electronics’ latest products more affordable and accessible to a wider audience.
However, it’s important to note that subscribing to the service is not mandatory for accessing AI features on Galaxy phones or other devices. Samsung previously assured users that these features will remain free at least until the end of 2025, with future plans yet to be announced.
Currently, the AI Subscription Club is available only in South Korea. There’s no confirmation yet on whether it will roll out globally. But with Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event set for January 22, 2025, we might learn more. The event is expected to showcase the Galaxy S25 series, and Samsung could use the platform to reveal additional details about its subscription model.
