Samsung’s Tizen-based I8800 Redwood smartphone appears in benchmarks
Spate of leaks indicate Samsung's Tizen-based smartphone may debut pretty soon.
Samsung’s Tizen-based smartphone, dubbed Samsung I8800 “Redwood” or Z9005, has made another appearance on the web along with benchmark results.
Previously leaked in a hands-on video, the I8800 Redwood will be among the first Samsung smartphones to run Tizen OS. Samsung is rumoured to be working on another Tizen smartphone, dubbed the Melius.
The new set of information comes through a BrowserMark 2 score that gave the Tizen smartphone an average value of 2829.29. The benchmark shows the Samsung I8800 runs on Exynos 4412 (quad-core Cortex-A9, Mali-400) that powered the Samsung Galaxy S III.
Samsung is expected to launch multiple handsets powered by the new Tizen mobile OS this year. The company had shown off Tizen at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this February, as a replacement for Bada OS. Samsung’s interest in Tizen is also seen as an effort to reduce dependency on Google’s Android platform.
