Samsung reportedly drops Galaxy S26 Edge plans, to stick with S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra lineup

The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is set to debut in early 2026, but the lineup may be more familiar than previous leaks indicated. Initial reports suggested a refreshed range with new Pro and Edge models joining the Ultra, but recent leaks point in the opposite direction. According to the most recent information, Samsung is likely to stick with a traditional lineup similar to the Galaxy S25 series, which includes the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. Despite releasing the Galaxy S25 Edge last year, Samsung is reportedly abandoning plans for a Galaxy S26 Edge entirely.

According to a report from Korea Economic Daily, the company has completely halted development of the Galaxy S26 Edge rather than delaying it. Previously, it was speculated that the Edge variant would replace the Galaxy S26 Plus in the 2026 lineup, but this may not happen.

The decision could be due to the market’s lukewarm reaction to Samsung’s first ultra thin flagship, the Galaxy S25 Edge, launched earlier this year. There is no doubt that the design impressed tech enthusiasts; however, a smaller 3,900 mAh battery, the lack of a telephoto camera, and a few other factors reportedly led to a drop in sales.

On the other hand, reports indicate that consumers are now preferring smartphones with longer battery life, flexible cameras, and consistent performance over ultra thin profiles. According to reports, Samsung was influenced by Apple as well. Apple reportedly reduced iPhone Air production by approximately one million units due to low demand, with users citing battery and camera limitations. Apple is also reportedly unlikely to release a successor in 2026, undermining the case for ultra-thin flagships.

However, we have yet to hear the company’s official statement regarding the cancellation of Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge production. So, for now, we’ll have to wait and see how Samsung positions its flagship lineup this year.
