Samsung is reportedly discontinuing the Edge variant of its flagship Galaxy S series, barely five months after the Galaxy S25 Edge was introduced globally. As per the report by South Korea’s Newspim (via Jukanlosreve on X), the company made this move because of the lower-than-expected sales.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge was the company’s first attempt to deliver an ultra thin form factor with lighter weight with an aim to outpace competitors like Apple’s rumoured iPhone Air and other Android OEMs exploring the thin and light trend. Despite the ambition, consumer response was underwhelming. Sales figures reveal that while the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra sold 8.28 million, 5.05 million, and 12.18 million units respectively as of August, the S25 Edge managed just 1.31 million units, as quoted by Android Authority.
The report further states that after discontinuing the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge, the upcoming flagship lineup may include three models- the Galaxy S26 (likely branded as S26 Pro), S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra. The Edge lineup will phase out once the existing stock will get sold out. The report also states that the chances of its return are slim. However, the development for the Galaxy S26 Edge was reportedly completed, leaving the door open for a potential separate release in the future, though that appears uncertain.
Previous leaks suggested that Samsung might retire the Plus variant in favor of the Edge design, expecting the S26 Edge to replace the S26 Plus. The report now suggests that those plans have now been reversed, leaving the Plus and Ultra model intact for flagship.
It should be noted that Samsung has not yet confirmed any of the updates, and these are all early leaks, so the readers are advised to take this update with a pinch of salt.
