Samsung Galaxy S8 3D renders hint at slim bezels and end of home button

Samsung Galaxy S8 is reportedly launching in April and it has already turned into one of the most anticipated smartphones in recent times. Samsung having lost second half flagship with Galaxy Note7, the Korean smartphone maker is rumoured to be cautiously developing its next flagship smartphone.

While we have seen rumours about what Galaxy S8 might look like in the past, the latest leak could well be the most credible one yet. Ahead of the official announcement, GSMArena has put out 3D renders of the upcoming smartphone. The renders are reportedly coming from an anonymous case maker developed based on schematics.

The renders show that Samsung is almost eliminating the bezels completely with top and bottom bezels trimmed to pack a larger display in a smaller body. There is also more emphasis on the edge panels which should blend with the rear panel. The renders also confirm that there is no 'Home' button and Samsung might be switching to optical fingerprint sensors placed under the glass.

The most striking thing about this render is the fact that Samsung seems to be retaining the 3.5mm headphone jack. The decade old audio jack has seen less favour from smartphone maker with Apple, Motorola, LeEco and HTC recently dropping the audio port from their devices. The render also dual speakers placed at the top and bottom.

Earlier rumours indicated that Samsung will switch to dual rear camera setup with Galaxy S8 but the renders do hint at single rear camera. However, a recent rumour suggests that dual rear camera setup will only be available on 6-inch Galaxy S8 Plus model.

Samsung recently confirmed that it will reveal the cause of Galaxy Note7's battery explosions and the company is also adopting stringent measures with the design of Galaxy S8. Samsung not only needs to restrict the decline in sales but also win the confidence of consumers with its Galaxy S8 smartphone. The smartphone is expected to be announced at a dedicated event on April 18.
