Samsung Galaxy S5 retail box image leaks, reveals full specs
HIGHLIGHTS

A leaked image of the Samsung Galaxy S5 retail box has been spotted online, days before its expected unveiling in Barcelona. The image reveals that the phone features a 2.5Ghz quad-core processor along with a 3000mAh battery.

Even though the Samsung Galxy S5 will be launched at MWC on February 24, an image of a Samsung Galaxy S5 retail box packaging has already been spotted on the web. The image shows that the phone features a 5.25 inch QHD (Quad HD) Super AMOLED display, a 20 megapixel rear camera along with a 2.0 megapixel front camera. Under the hood, it has a 2.5GHz quad-core processor bundled with 3GB of RAM. It also reveals that the device packs a 3000mAh battery and runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat OS.

The packaging is quite identical to the one on Galaxy S4 and Note 3. Interestingly, the specs shown on the box are somewhat different from what the latest rumours suggest.

Meanwhile, the same source who leaked the packaging of the device, has also posted shared renders released by Sonny Dickson who is usually known for leaking images of Apple devices. The renders are believed to be of the Samsung S5.

The size on the leaked render suggests the S5 to be 141.7 mm long , 72.5 mm wide and 8.2 mm thick, which is a little different from the size that can be seen on the leaked box image. According to the picture, the device will be 133.3 mm long. In size, the S5 was supposed to be similar to the Galaxy S4 but with a slightly larger display.

Whether or not this image is authentic is another question, but going by our sources we won’t probably see a fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy S5 .

However, Samsung sent an additional teaser for its Unpacked event 5 which shows nine icons. Presumably these may be present on the S5. These icons include a ‘Privacy’ icon, which may infer that the phone may include a fingerprint scanner.

While the Style icon does indicate a fresh new look, it could also be referring to either the rumoured TouchWiz 5 UI or a change in the physical look of the S5, for instance the rumoured aluminium body. As far as the Fitness icon is concerned, it’s most likely pointing to the S-Health Application.

The official announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S5 will take place on February 24 at 20:00 in Barcelona.

In the meantime, stay tuned for more on the Galaxy S5.
