Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra may ditch Snapdragon chip for Exynos 2600: Report
Galaxy S26 Ultra to feature Exynos 2600 built on Samsung’s 2nm process.
Benchmarks show 15% faster CPU and 75% better GPU than Apple A19 Pro.
Expected 60W charging, new camera island design, and Rs 1.59L starting price.
After years of using Snapdragon chips for its Ultra flagships, Samsung reportedly plans to return to its Exynos chipset. The Galaxy S26 Ultra, expected to debut early next year, will likely bring back the Exynos processor. Powered by the new Exynos 2600, built on Samsung’s cutting-edge 2nm process, the upcoming Ultra could mark a significant turning point for Samsung’s Foundry division and the company’s premium smartphone lineup.
SurveyEarly leaks and benchmarks suggest that the Exynos 2600 could outperform Apple’s A19 Pro and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, particularly in AI and graphics performance. If reports are to be believed, Exynos chips will improve performance and control across the company’s flagship ecosystem.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra will be the first Ultra model since 2022’s Galaxy S22 Ultra to feature an Exynos chip, breaking a three-year streak of Snapdragon exclusivity. The Exynos 2600, designed using Samsung Foundry’s 2nm manufacturing process, reportedly delivers significant power and efficiency gains, a major leap from the 3nm-based Exynos 2500 that faced production challenges.
According to leaked benchmarks, the Exynos 2600 outperforms Apple’s A19 Pro, which powers the iPhone 17 Pro, by 15% in multi-core performance and a massive 75% in graphics. It is said to be six times faster in AI processing.
Compared to Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the Exynos 2600 maintains its lead, boasting 30% better AI performance and 29% higher graphics output.
Apart from these, the handset is tipped to support 60W wired fast charging paired with a 5,500mAh battery, a step up from the current 45W limit. The device will also feature Qualcomm’s upcoming 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset and an upgraded vapour cooling chamber.
