HIGHLIGHTS

A week away from Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2022 event, scheduled for February 9th, a South Korean tipster leaked a teaser video and images of the latest iteration of the Galaxy S series, the S22. Samsung itself had also confirmed that it would reveal the device at the event. The promo video shared by tipster Dohyun Kim hints that the next generation Galaxy S lineup of smartphones will feature the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ and the Galaxy S22 Ultra. However, Samsung itself has not officially confirmed any details regarding the same as of yet.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Specifications

The base Galaxy S22 is rumoured to have a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a Full HD+ resolution of 2340X1080 pixels. It will most likely be powered either by Samsung’s Exynos 2200 SoC or the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset depending upon the market. The device is expected to be offered with 8GB of ram along with a 128GB or 256GB internal memory capacity. It is likely to have a 3700mAh battery. The Galaxy S22 is expected to sport a 50-megapixel triple rear camera setup along with a 10-megapixel punch-hole front camera.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus Specifications

The midrange Galaxy S22 Plus device is most likely to be offered with specs similar to the base Galaxy S22, with the only significant differences between the two devices being a 6.6.-inch full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display as compared to 6.1 inches in the latter, and a 4500mAh battery in the former as compared to 3700mAh in the latter.

The top-of-the-line Galaxy S22 Ultra is rumoured to feature a 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 3080×1040 pixels. Similar to the Galaxy S22 and S22+, it is also expected to be powered either by Samsung’s Exynos 2022 chipset or the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. The device is likely to be offered with 8GB and 12GB ram options, along with 128GB, 256GB and 512GB internal storage options. It is expected to have a 108-megapixel quad rear camera set up and a 40-megapixel front punch-hole camera. The device is expected to be offered with a 5000mAh battery as well as an S Pen embedded. 

As per rumours, all three devices will feature the latest Android 12 OS and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. While the S22 and S22 Plus will be offered with Black, White, Green and Pink colour options, the S22 Ultra is expected to be offered in Black, White, Green and a Burgundy colour option.

Pricing 

Leaks suggest that while the base Galaxy S22 is expected to be priced at approximately $899 (approximately Rs. 67,200), the Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra are expected to be priced at $1099 (Approximately Rs. 82,100) and $1299 (Approximately Rs. 97,000).
