Samsung has announced that the Galaxy S10 5G phone on will be available for purchase from April 5 in South Korea. The phone, that was launched alongside the the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and the Galaxy S10+, will also be purchased in the US as Verizon will start taking the pre-orders for the device on April 5. Meanwhile, a report claimed that the price of the phone will start from 1.39 million won (approx $1225 or Rs 85,000).

“We are at the beginning of a new era where the incredible speed and connectivity of 5G becomes a reality, bringing the world closer to Samsung’s vision of connected living. We are proud of the work we’ve accomplished to bring our first 5G smartphone to market and look forward to bringing it to everyone around the world in the coming year,” DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics, said in a statement.

Samsung claims that it is one of the handful of companies with an end-to-end 5G solution from chipsets, network core, radio solutions and user devices. As far as the price is concerned, Korean news outlet ETNews claims that the base model featuring 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage will cost users 1.39 million won (approx $1225 or Rs 85,000). The model with 512GB of local storage is said to cost 1.55 million won (approx $1,360 or Rs 94,500).

Samsung Galaxy S10 5G Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G shares a similar hardware with the Galaxy S10+ with significant difference in battery and minute variance in display. It sports a giant 6.7-inch display as compared to the Galaxy S10 Plus’ 6.4-inch panel, however, the Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED display with HDR10+ is the same with two cameras sitting in the pill-shaped cut-out on the top right corner. Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 mobile platform integrated with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem.

The modem is expected to draw more power, hence the company has packed a 4,500mAh battery that can be fast-charged with the bundled 25W fast charger. The phone also supports wireless and reverse wireless charging tech. In the camera department, the Galaxy S10 5G has a setup similar to the one on the Galaxy S10 Plus but it adds a 3D ToF sensor on the back that allows “Video Live Focus” and a “Quick Measure” app.

The samsung Galaxy S10 5G has a 12MP primary camera and a dual aperture mechanism going between f/1.5 and f/2.4. There is a 16MP ultra-wide camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and the third camera sports a telephoto lens with an aperture of f/2.4 along with OIS and PDAF. On the front is a primary 10MP shooter with an aperture of f/1.9 and dual pixel AF. The secondary 8MP shooter is to aid in depth information.
