  • According to reports Apple will announce its next-gen iPhone on Sept. 15 ahead of a Sept. 25 launch date along with a 16GB 5.5-inch version named "iPhone Air."

Apple is planning to start sales of its next iPhone on Sept. 25 according to website China.com. The reports suggest that Apple is planning to launch a 5.5-inch "phablet" version of the next-gen "iPhone 6" called "iPhone Air," along with a 4.7 inch iPhone 6.

The rumors suggest that Apple will unveil the iPhone 6 on September 15 and will start retail availability from September 25, which falls on a Thursday. Apple traditionally starts sales of new iPhone models on a Friday, so the dates seem a little fishy. Previous leaks has indicated a more believable launch date of September 19, which does fall on a Friday.

The same report states that the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 variant will be called the iPhone Air, similar to the largest iPad. Rumors claim that the next iPhone 6 will have a 4.7 inch thinner redesigned body, a faster A8 processor, improved cameras and a new lens module. The iPhone 6 is also rumored to have multiple sensors, including a new barometer sensor. Reports suggest that the 5.5-inch model may be available in a 128GB version and feature an optical image stabilization system. Apple's carriers in the country, China Mobile and China Unicom, have already begun field testing the iPhone 6 on their networks.

According to the China.com report, China will be one of the first countries to receive the iPhone. The report also mentions the pricing, claiming that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 (32GB) will cost CNY 5,288 (approximately Rs. 50,800) which is the same as the 16GB iPhone 5S in China. The 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Air (16GB) variant will be priced at CNY 5,998 (approximately Rs. 57,600).
