Reliance JioPhone will be available for pre-booking starting August 24 and the company has started beta testing the device. JioPhone is aimed to convert 500 million existing feature phone users into 4G subscribers.

JioPhone, Reliance Jio's 4G feature phone will be available for pre-order starting August 24. The company has already started beta testing the device starting August 15 and will be available for pre-order next week from both online as well as the offline medium. JioPhone is aimed to convert nearly 500 million feature phone users into 4G subscribers.

JioPhone will be available at a one-time security deposit of Rs 1,500. Reliance Jio says that this deposit will be refunded after 36 months on the return of the device, making the feature phone available effectively at zero cost. Reliance Jio has also introduced new Rs 153 tariff plan specifically for the JioPhone buyers.

With the recharge of Rs 153, JioPhone subscribers get unlimited voice calls and 4G data benefit. However, there is a fair usage policy of 512MB per day for every user. Jio is also offering sachet recharge of Rs 53 for a weekly plan and two-day validity plan priced at Rs 23. Furthermore, JioPhone buyers can recharge with Rs 309 pack and use company's 'JioPhone TV cable' to stream content from their feature phone on a large screen television. Jio says users can watch 3-4 hours of videos daily before exhausting the high-speed data limit.

JioPhone will be available for pre-booking starting August 24. Those interested in buying the 4G feature phone can do so either from company's website or by sending SMS. In order to book online, interested buyers need to visit Jio.com and express interest for the device by clicking on 'Keep me posted' tab. The web link takes visitors to a registration link where users specify whether they are buying the device as an individual or for business. It also asks for additional details like name, contact number, email and pin code. Once submitted, Jio will send an email confirming your interest and JioPhone will be available for purchase on first-cum-first serve basis.

In order to register via SMS, you will have to type 'JP your area code Jio Store code near your locality' and send it to 7021170211. Existing Jio subscribers can register their interest for JioPhone via MyJio app. Some Reliance stores have already started taking pre-orders for JioPhone and it is expected to become available on August 24 itself. Reliance Jio has become fourth largest telecom service provider in India with over 123 million subscribers. With JioPhone, it aims to onboard feature phone users to its 4G only network.
