Realme 16 5G may launch with iPhone Air like design: Here’s what we know so far

Realme is getting ready to add a new phone to its lineup in India. After launching the Realme 16 Pro and Realme 16 Pro+, reports say the company may soon launch the standard model, called the Realme 16 5G. The device has already been spotted on the BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification, which indicates that its launch in India may not be very far. Rumours suggest that the device may get a refreshed design, a slightly smaller screen, and improved camera modules. Although Realme has not revealed anything officially, rumours and reports are already creating expectations. Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming Realme 16 5G.

Realme 16: Design (Expected)

The Realme 16 5G is expected to come with what Realme terms an ‘Air Design’, which will include a slim and minimalist design. The smartphone has been recently launched in the Vietnamese market, and images show a design influenced by the Apple iPhone Air with a camera module inspired by the Google Pixel series. However, what sets the device apart is a small selfie mirror placed near the rear cameras, allowing users to take selfies using the main cameras.

Additionally, the device is also said to use a special colour treatment that creates a soft blue and purple shine when light hits the surface. If the leaks are to be believed, the Realme 16 5G will be available in two colour options, notably the Air Black and Air White.

Realme 16: Specs (Expected)

The smartphone is expected to launch with a 6.57-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display, which will support a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Furthermore, the device is also expected to reach a peak brightness of 4,200 nits when under bright sunlight.

The Realme 16 5G smartphone is anticipated to be shipped with Realme UI 7, which is a custom skin based on Android 16. Under the hood, the smartphone is likely to draw its power from MediaTek’s Dimensity 6400 Turbo processor paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

Alongside this, the smartphone is also likely to feature a massive 7,000mAh battery that will support 60W fast charging. For added durability, the smartphone is also likely to feature IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K certifications.

In terms of optics, the smartphone may sport a 50MP primary rear camera along with a 2MP monochrome camera. At the front the device is anticipated to come with a 50MP sensor.

The Realme 16 5G has already been spotted in the BIS listings and this confirms that the India launch is getting closer. An official announcement is expected in the coming weeks.
