OxygenOS 5.1.9 update brings intelligent battery saving feature to the OnePlus 6
HIGHLIGHTS

With the new battery saving feature, the OnePlus 6 will intelligently turn off network operations when the user is asleep. This will help increase the battery life of the device when it is in standby mode.

If there is one thing that OnePlus users can boast about, it is the fact that the smartphone has a pretty good battery life. OnePlus is rolling out an update that will enhance the battery life of the OnePlus 6 even further. The latest OxygenOS 5.1.9 update is here to help improve the battery life of the smartphone.

With the new update, the phone will intelligently turn off network operations when it detects that the user is asleep. The feature is based on the users sleep patterns. The OnePlus 6 will be able to intuitively switch network operations when it remains idle for long times. This will help improve the standby time of the battery significantly. Of course, how much battery is consumed when the phone is on standby in the night is subject to other functions the users has initiated. For example, some users have set WhatsApp to backup at 2am so the backup happens when the user is asleep, and the phone is idle.

The new feature, called Sleep Standby Optimization, will not be active by default. Users will have to navigate to advanced optimization under the battery optimization option from the phone’s settings to activate the feature.

When it comes to the battery of the OnePlus 6, the smartphone has the ability to charge more than 60% in less than 30 minutes thanks to dash charge. In our review of the OnePlus 6, we said, “The OnePlus 6 is built for speed from the ground up. The smartphone has the history of being a flagship killer, but despite the top-of-the-class hardware, the compromises in OnePlus phones have also remained consistent, so much so, that it is now acts as a deterrent to buy this over an expensive flagship. The OnePlus 6 is still just as fast, even more beautiful but has the same flaws as last time.”

Coming to the specifications, the OnePlus 6 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. It features a 6.28-inch FHD+ Full Optic AMOLED display with a 19:9 aspect ratio, which has a notch on top. The rear panel of the smartphone is clad in glass where a vertically stacked dual rear camera setup is placed. There is a 16MP + 20MP sensor on the main camera, while on the front sits a 16MP sensor. The smartphone comes in a 6GB/64GB model and an 8GB RAM version with 128GB and 256GB internal storage options. The entire package is powered by a 3300mAh battery.

The OnePlus 6 is available in a bunch of colours including Red, Mirror Black, Midnight Black, Silk White and a limited Avengers Edition
