Oppo launches R1 smartphone in India for Rs 26,990

Chinese handset manufacturer, Oppo, has launched its 5-inch Android smartphone Oppo R1 in India. The smartphone is available via online retailers for Rs 26,990.

The R1 has a 5-inch IPS display with 1280×720 pixels resolution and 294 ppi pixel density. The smartphone comes with Corning Gorilla glass 3 protection against scratches. It has a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) with Color OS. The Oppo R1 measures 142.7 x 70.4 x 7.1 mm and weighs about 140 grams.

Connectivity-wise, the Oppo R1 features dual-SIM (GSM GSM) capability with dual-standby functionality, 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS support. It has an 8MP rear camera with LED Flash, BSI sensor and f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP front-facing camera for video calling. The smartphone has a Fujitsu ISP independent image-processing chip, which according to the company “produces more natural white balance and more precise auto focus”. It has 1GB of RAM and a 16GB non-expandable internal memory. It features an inbuilt accelerometer, gyroscope and proximity sensors. The smartphone packs a 2410mAh battery. The Oppo R1 is available in Black and White colors.

Oppo started its Indian operations in January, and has launched the Oppo Find 5, the Oppo Neo, and the Oppo N1 smartphones. The company also plans to launch its next flagship smartphone the Oppo Find 7 in June 2014 in India.

The Oppo Find 7 has a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 2.5GHz processor and runs Android 4.3. It has a 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash, and comes with a Super Zoom mode that can take 10 consecutive shots and merges them to make a single 50 MP image. The smartphone also has a 5MP front-facing camera for video calling. The Oppo Find 7 packs a 3000 mAh battery.
