OnePlus 3T brings refinement to three key areas of a smartphone - performance, battery life and storage
OnePlus 3T, the refined version of 2016's best mid-range flagship smartphone OnePlus 3 is launching in India soon. The company has started teasing the launch and its India head has confirmed the launch as well but the big question will be the price.
OnePlus 3T brings refinement to three key areas of a smartphone – performance, battery life and storage. It also brings camera improvement to a rather unobvious area – front camera. There was little to criticise about OnePlus 3 for its price and with OnePlus 3T, the company has basically updated the winning formula. OnePlus has also announced plans to discontinue OnePlus 3 completely in US and Europe and will pitch OnePlus 3T as the only flagship. The move seems wise but it is unclear whether OnePlus will adopt same move here in India, where the device has become the highest rated smartphone on Amazon India.
In US, OnePlus 3T is available at $439 for 64GB variant and $479 for the 128GB model. OnePlus 3 was launched in the US at $399 for the 64GB model.
Now according to a report by GizmoChina, OnePlus 3T could launch in China at a lower price tag. The smartphone is expected to launch in China at 2,799 Yuan (approximately Rs 27,990) for the 64GB storage variant and 3,299 Yuan for the 128 gigabyte model. There is even a reported possibility of that price for 128GB variant coming down to 3,199 Yuan (approximately Rs 31,990).
If OnePlus 3T arrives in India at that price then it will definitely displace the best selling OnePlus 3. This also makes us wonder whether OnePlus 3 will be discontinued in India as well to equip people with the latest product.
If OnePlus 3T arrives in India at Rs 27,999 (the current price of OnePlus 3) then it will become the most affordable Snapdragon 821 smartphone here. The device will in fact threaten the likes of Google Pixel and Apple's iPhone 7 by offering more for the buck. We have reached out to OnePlus India for the price but it still remains under the radar.
