OnePlus 16 may launch with 185Hz refresh rate display and massive battery: Here is everything we know so far

OnePlus is reportedly working on its next-gen flagship model, the OnePlus 16. While the company is yet to share any official details yet, leaks and rumours have started revealing possible changes coming with the new device. The upcoming handset may bring significant improvements in the display, performance and overall efficiency of the device when compared to its predecessor, the OnePlus 15. According to recent reports, OnePlus could use a high refresh rate BOE display with better brightness and colour output. The phone is also expected to feature Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship processor, making it one of the most powerful OnePlus devices when it arrives. According to a leak shared by Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the OnePlus 16 is currently being tested with a new display setup. The details suggest that the phone could feature a 6.78-inch 1.5K display supplied by BOE. Moreover, it’s also tipped to support an 185Hz refresh rate, which would be a noticeable jump over the current 165Hz refresh rate offered on the OnePlus 15.
In terms of performance, the device is tipped to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset under the hood. Moreover, it’s also said to come with up to 16GB of LPDDR6 RAM and feature UFS 4.1 internal storage that goes up to 512GB.

The handset may also debut with a gigantic 9,000mAh battery and can potentially be paired up with 100W or 150W wired fast charging. It’s also rumoured that the device will get wireless charging and reverse wireless charging support. Out of the box the device is said to run on OxygenOS 17, a skin based on Android 17.
In terms of optics the smartphone may launch with a triple rear setup tentatively featuring a 200MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, paired with a 50MP primary sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide lens.

OnePlus 16: Launch timeline and Indian price
If OnePlus follows its previous flagship release pattern, then the device could arrive in India somewhere around the fourth quarter of 2026. Early reports also suggest that it could be priced around Rs 90,000. However, these are just speculative prices, and the official price may only be revealed at the time of launch.
