Number portability helps BSNL add 2.3 lakh customers in Chennai

The Mobile Number Portability has helped the state run telecom operator BSNL gain 2.3 lakh customers in Chennai alone, reveals operator’s Chief General Manager for the Chennai Telecom Circle A Balasubramaniam. The MNP helped the telecom operator to achieve a net gain of 70,000 customers, he added.

While addressing a press meet, Balasubramaniam said the new offers have further helped BSNL ‘actively gain’ market share. Balasubramanian also announced new schemes and limited period offers to celebrate the 13th Foundation Day of BSNL Chennai Circle. Details about these offers are available here.

The BSNL official further pointed out that the Chennai circle has posted a significant growth in the number of BSNL landline connections. “We have recorded 42,000 new land line connections. This is a net growth of 1,600. While that number might not seem much, it is remarkable because every other circle in the country is losing land line connections. Chennai has bucked the trend,” Balasubramaniam is quoted as saying.

While addressing the conference, BSNL Tamil Nadu Circle CGM Ashraf Khan the telecom operator had already succeeded in expanding 3G connectivity at all district headquarters in Tamil Nadu. The connectivity is expected to reach all taluk headquarters by March, he added.
