Chinese smartphone maker Nubia is all set to launch the Red Magic 3 in India. The launch event will be starting later in the day, and once launched, the Red Magic 3 will join the recently launched Black Shark 2 and the Asus ROG Phone as a dedicated smartphone for gaming. The Red Magic 3 was announced in China back in April for a starting price of CNY 3,199 (roughly Rs 33,300). The Red Magic 3’s gaming chops include a flagship processor, a built-in cooling system replete with a fan inside the body and of course, RGB lights!

Nubia Red Magic 3 specifications

Considering the company launches the phone with the same specs as the Chinese variant, the Red Magic 3 will feature a 6.65-inch AMOLED display with HDR certification and FHD+ resolution. The phone also boasts of a 90Hz display, the same as the OnePlus 7 Pro along with 240Hz touch refresh rate, to make gameplay smoother.

Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor with an Adreno 640 GPU. In China, the phone is offered in three variants — 6GB RAM with 128GB storage, 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, and 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The phone draws power from a 5,000mAh battery which is topped up using a 30W fast charger that apparently gives an hour of gameplay with 10 minutes of charge.

To prove its gaming mettle, the Red Magic 3 comes with pressure-sensitive triggers on the edges that emulates a game pad without the need for an physical accessory. It also has a fan inside the body to keep the temperature down.

On the back is a single 48MP camera while on the front is another 16MP sensor for selfies. The phone has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Between the Black Shark 2 and the Red Magic 3, there are a lot of similarities including the hardware under the hood and the RGB-laden gaming design, but the Red Magic 3 is notable for offering a higher refresh rate, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a built-in fan inside the body.

Nubia Red Magic 3 expected price

The Nubia Red Magic 3 is a flagship smartphone with a flagship Qualcomm processor with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB storage. The phone is also designed keeping gamers in mind and the specifications are quite similar to the Black Shark 2 and the OnePlus 7 Pro, both of which are offered under Rs 50,000. It is expected the Red Magic 3 will also be priced under Rs 50,000, at least for the base variant. The phone’s gaming chops will be interesting to compare against the horde of Snapdragon 855-powered phones that launched this month.
