Nothing Happens To Nothing Phone (1) In Popular YouTube Durability Test
HIGHLIGHTS

Nothing Phone 1 passes JerryRigEverything’s durability test.

Nothing Phone 1 has recycled aluminium frame, Gorilla Glass 5.

It is available on Flipkart starting at Rs 32,999.

Nothing Phone 1 has been the talk of the town ever since it launched on July 12 in India and global markets. The Phone 1 marks the debut of Nothing in the smartphone ecosystem headed by former co-founder of OnePlus Carl Pei. The Nothing Phone 1 stands out in a sea of similar-looking phones with its transparent back panel and an array of LED lights.

Just a few days back, popular YouTube channel JerryRigEverything took the Nothing Phone 1 through their ringer of durability tests where almost nothing happened to the Nothing Phone 1 and that’s something of a feat, considering it's their first phone. Do note here that many phones such as the OnePlus 10 Pro, ROG Phone 5, and Pixel 4 XL have failed to pass this durability test so that already puts the Nothing Phone 1 at an advantage.

Nothing Phone 1: What does the durability test show?

Nothing

In JerryRigEverything’s durability test, the Phone 1’s display was tested according to Moh’s hardness levels where the screen showed visible scratches “at level 6 and deeper grooves at level 7” which is very normal for glasses and puts the Phone 1 on the better side of things. The Gorilla Glass 5 protection on either side helps it in achieving that kind of durability.

Next, the display had to face fire which it did for 40 seconds before leaving a white mark from the heat. This mark recovered very quickly and did not hamper the viewing experience.

Finally, the bend test by JerryRigEverything shows how the recycled aluminium frame will easily hold out the daily wear and tear. While the phone didn’t break in half like the OnePlus 10 Pro, it had some “concerning flex” when it was being bent towards the display. Though, the side antenna band did hold out pretty well in the face of Zack applying his full might to the phone’s screen. The antenna band locked out and didn’t compromise the frame, passing the durability test.
