Nokia has unleashed a very affordable phone, the Nokia 2690, which is targeted at the rural market, and has a rich assortment of features including a BL-4C 860 mAh Li-ion battery rated to provide about 4.5 hours of talk time and about 335 hours of standby time. In addition, it is reported to support a memory card slot upgradeable up to 8GB, a VGA camera that supports video recording at 176×144@15fps.
It purportedly ships with a 1.2-inch display running at a native resolution of 128×160 and also support GPRS, EDGE & Quad-band for mobile internet service. It is said to run on the native S40 platform with support for basic everyday applications like: calendar, notes, recorder, calculator etc. Users are reportedly offered the services of sending mails, web surfing and playing music over the FM radio with RDS or the Nokia music player. The phone is apparently available in four variants including : Graphite, White Silver, Hot Pink and Blue.
