HIGHLIGHTS

The Finnish firm may unveil new Android phones in the May-June timeframe at different price points.

Nokia’s Normandy a.k.a Nokia X isn’t going to be the only Android smartphone from the Finnish handset maker. According to new rumours, the company will be launching more Android phones including some high-end models later this year.

An Artesyn Technologies source says the new Nokia Android phones will be launched in the May-June timeframe at different price points. However, there’s no clarity on whether the phones will have access to Google’s Play Store unlike Normandy.

It’s notable Microsoft will having all the value added features from Nokia such as PureView cameras, HAAC microphones, and ClearBlack displays, while the Finnish company will be left with low-end Asha and feature phone departments.

Rumours suggest future Nokia Android phones may launch as budget handsets with the Asha overlay on the UI.

According to a recent Wall Street Journal report, Nokia’s highly rumored Android based handset will go official as ‘Nokia X’ and likely release this month during the MWC. The smartphone will be part of Nokia’s Asha series and feature 4-inch WVGA display, 4GB of in-built memory, a dual-core Snapdragon 200 SoC coupled with 512MB of RAM along with dual-SIM support.
