Nokia’s Asha phones get camera improvements and 7GB OneDrive storage
Nokia has rolled out a new software update for Asha smartphones which brings Mix Radio, camera enhancements, parental controls and much more.
Nokia is rolling out a major update for its new Asha phones, including the Nokia Asha 230, Asha 500, Asha 501, Asha 502 and Asha 503. The new update is meant for both single and dual-SIM variants. The update brings the MixRadio service, improved camera settings, and support for Microsoft OneDrive among others. Nokia has started rolling out the update and users will be informed about it via a push notification on their Asha smartphones.
The update also brings Mix Radio music streaming service, which allows users to create mixes and download them. The service is limited to specific countries and is currently not available on the Nokia Asha 230.
New camera features have also been rolled out, including panorama shots, new voice guided self-portrait feature and improved video stabilization. Fastlane now supports Facebook likes, re-tweets, birthday reminders and much more. Nokia has also added parental controls that allow you to lock the Store and browser from Kids. Nokia Asha users will also get 7GB of free cloud storage on Microsoft’s OneDrive with ‘auto upload’ support.
The update is available over-the-air and users can also visit Settings > Phone Update on their Asha devices for the update.
Nokia launched its new Asha 230 dual-sim smartphone in India last month for Rs. 3,449. The Nokia Asha 230 smartphone has a 2.8-inch display with 320 x 240 pixels resolution. The budget feature-phone has a 1.3MP rear camera with video recording. It has 64MB of RAM and supports microSD expandable memory. Connectivity wise the smartphone supports USB and Bluetooth 3.0. It comes with Nokia’s Xpress Browser and supports Microsoft Bing search. The Nokia Asha 230 is available in Red, Black and White colour options.
