Nokia launches budget Series 30 music phones, with dual SIM variant

Nokia has launched two new budget music phones in the Indian market – Nokia 100, and 101, priced at Rs. 1,399 and Rs. 1,699 respectively. The two Series 30 phones were first introduced by Nokia at the end of August.  The Nokia 101 is the dual-SIM variant, and according to the Finns, it also happens to be the company’s fifth and most affordable dual SIM phone in the country. The Nokia 100, on the other hand, becomes the company’s cheapest colour phone in the country.

Nokia’s looking to strengthen ‘its entry portfolio’ with these phones, targeting the devices towards first time users with easy to use features, and simple grid-based UI not requiring literacy. Further to this end, Nokia’s launching these phones with the option of a bundled Airtel connection with an exclusive tariff plan – 100 minutes of free Airtel to Airtel talktime for the first month, 400 national and local SMS free every month on a minimum recharge.

The two phones are nearly identical in terms of specifications, and you can check out our previous coverage for more information. Common features include FM radio, a 103 phon loudspeaker, MP3 player, integrated flashlight, and a solid battery life of up to 6.7 hours of talktime, and 25 days of standby time. Along with the additional dual SIM functionality, the Nokia 101 has a five SIM data management option, microSD expandability up to 16GB, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Both devices come with Nokia Life Tools (formerly Ovi Life Tools) and Nokia Money pre-installed, providing locally-relevant information on healthcare, education, agriculture and entertainment.

The Nokia 101 will be available in black and red colours, and will be in stores within the next few weeks, while the Nokia 100 will launch in October, only in blue.
