The December Security update for the Nokia 8 Sirocco is said to weigh around 80MB while it is around 100MB for the Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 phones.

HMD Global is reportedly rolling out the December Android security update for its Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 smartphones. As per a Nokiamob.net report, the changelog for the update simply mentions the new security patch and there’s no additional feature. The Update is said to weigh around 80 MB for the Nokia 8 Sirocco and about 100 MB for Nokia 5 and 6 smartphones. If the report is to be believed, Nokia is not shying away from spending time and keeping its older phones up to date, at least in terms of security patches. This news also comes soon after the company started rolling out Android 9 Pie update for the Nokia 8 under the public beta program and the Nokia 7.1 Plus users reported of getting the December security patch for their phones. 

The Android Pie update for the Nokia 8 was announced by the company’s Chief Product Office, Juho Sarvikas on Twitter. Sarvikas tweeted, “Thank you for your patience. Since you had to wait a bit longer than expected for Android 9 on your Nokia 8, we decided to make an immediate Beta Labs release. Please join us in finalizing the commercial release – your feedback is extremely valuable.”  This new update brings Android Pie exclusive features for the device like the new system navigation gesture, Adaptive Battery, and Adaptive Brightness. It also updates is slightly over 1.8GB in size and it also updates the Android security patch level to December 2018. Those who are interested in trying out the new Android Pie update on their Nokia 8 phones can head over to the official Nokia Beta Labs website and register in the company’s open beta program. Do note that the update is currently in beta and can have some bugs and issues.

The company also recently launched the Nokia 8.1 smartphone in India. The new device features an HDR10 enabled PureView display and sports Zeiss optics for the dual rear cameras. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC and is equipped with a 6.18-inch full-HD+ screen with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. The device runs on stock Android 9 Pie and is backed by a 3500mAh battery, which also supports 18W quick charge.
