HMD Global's first Nokia-branded Android smartphones are expected to be announced in India on June 13. The company has sent out media invites for an event on June 13 in New Delhi where it is likely to reveal the pricing and available of its new devices.

At MWC this year, HMD Global had confirmed that the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 will become available globally before the end of the second quarter. A recent report had suggested that the smartphones will be officially introduced for Indian market on June 15. However, the report said only the Nokia 3 will be available initially and the smartphone will be followed by the Nokia 5 and the Nokia 6, with all the three smartphones being available by the end of June.

To recall, the Nokia 3 is the entry level device amongst the three and features a 5-inch 720p HD display, MediaTek MT6737 processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage. The handset sports an 8MP cameras in the front and back, and is equipped with a 2650mAh battery.

The Nokia 5 and the Nokia 6 are powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 430 platform and are equipped with a 3000mAh battery. The Nokia 5 sports a 5.2-inch HD display, and offers 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. At the back is a 13MP camera, while at the front is an 8MP camera. The Nokia 6 offers a 5.5-inch Full HD display and offers 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of inbuilt storage. The device sports a 16MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera.

All three smartphones run Android 7.0 Nougat, and the HMD Global has promised to upgrade the devices to Android O whenever it becomes available. Nokia is banking on its design, pure Android experience and brand value for its comeback in the smartphone market. With Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6, HMD Global will compete against the likes of Xiaomi, Lenovo and local players like Micromax in India. With Xiaomi's dominant presence in the budget Android smartphone category, Nokia could emerge as a potent threat to its position.
