Moto Maxx trademark filed by Motorola, could point to a big battery Moto X.
Motorola has filed a trademark with the name Moto Maxx at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s website.
The name Maxx has been used previously by the handset maker on Verizon exclusive devices like the Razr Maxx, DROID Razr Maxx, and DROID Maxx which have a massive battery. This trademark indicates that Motorola may be planning to take back the Maxx branding for devices that may not be exclusive to Verizon, as Moto has now become the global brand for Motorola.
As of now the Patent filling only indicates the name Moto Maxx, which could mean that the device will have a bigger battery. Right now, its not clear whether the smartphone will carry the name, or will be a variant of existing Motorola devices, like the Moto X, G, or E.
This patent filing was made by Motorola on the 22nd of July, and states that the trademark is for “Mobile phones, smartphones and accessories therefore, namely, battery chargers and adapters.”
Motorola is also planning to launch the Moto X+1 and Moto 360 soon. According to reports the Moto X+1 will be released along with the Moto 360 and may come with 25 back plate options. According to a recent leak the Moto X+1 will have a 5.2-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. It is expected to run on the Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS and will have a quad-core 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor. It will feature 2GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage expandable via microSD slot up to 128GB. It will feature a 12MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera. No word has been given on the pricing of the smartphone as yet.
