Motorola to launch Android One version of Moto X4 in the US: Report
HIGHLIGHTS

The Moto X4 Android One version will sport a design similar to the regular variant showcased at IFA 2017. The smartphone could be the second device after the Mi A1 to join the 2017 Android One bandwagon.

Motorola will be the next major smartphone-maker to join Google's Android One initiative in 2017. The company is expected to debut its latest mid-range offering, the Moto X4 with Android One branding in the United States. The handset was first showcased at IFA 2017 last week and the company has reportedly partnered with Google to launch an Android One edition.

The details about the device come from Evan Blass, who shared official render of the Moto X4 with Android One branding on Twitter. The render shows that the handset will sport the same design as the regular Moto X4 with a dual rear camera setup at the back and Android One branding at the bottom.

Google first announced Android One, a customised version of Android for low and mid-tier smartphones in 2014. The operating system failed to take off among its OEM partners and the search giant seems to be renewing the operating system with new partnerships. Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone-maker, recently announced the Mi A1, its first Android One smartphone. At the launch, Xiaomi said that Mi A1 is part of new collaboration with Google and will deliver stock Android experience at budget.

With an Android One version of the Moto X4, the software giant might have a new chance at bringing the operating system to the forefront. In terms of features, the Moto X4 is expected to sport a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS LCD display and will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 630 chipset. The smartphone is expected to offer 3GB RAM and 32GB expandable storage.

On the camera front, the Moto X4 sports a dual rear camera setup with 12MP primary sensor and another 8MP sensor supporting wider field of view. It also offers a 16MP front camera with LED flash and 1080p video recording. The smartphone supports WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC and 3.5mm audio jack. The Moto X4 runs Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box and it is not evident how Android One variant will be different from the regular variant. The smartphone houses a 3000mAh battery and is expected to be offered in black and blue colour options.
