Moto G6 Plus with 5.9-inch Full HD+ 18:9 display, Snapdragon 630 to launch in India on September 10
Motorola has confirmed the launch date of the Moto G6 Plus and the smartphone is making its way to India nearly five months after its initial announcement.
Motorola announced its Moto G6 series of smartphones in April and later in June, launched the Moto G6 (review) and the G6 Play smartphones in India. The Moto G6 Plus was missing from the fray and the company promised to bring it to the country soon. Now, Motorola is making good on its promise as the smartphone will be announced in India on September 10. The news arrives via the company’s Twitter account where the company posted a GIF that highlights some features of the upcoming handset. The Moto G6 Plus is a mid-range smartphone that features an 18:9 display, sans a notch. It is equipped with a faster processor and more memory than other two smartphones in the same series.
Moto G6 Plus specifications
The Moto G6 Plus features a 5.9-inch Full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC and comes in the two aforementioned memory variants. In terms of optics, the device features a 12MP+5MP rear camera setup with f/1.7 aperture lens and Dual Pixel autofocus. On the front is an 8MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 80-degree lens. The device is backed by a 3,200mAh battery and supports the company’s TurboPower fast charging technology. It runs on stock Android 8.0 Oreo and features p2i-rated water-repellent coating protects it from accidental splashes and light rain. It sports a Type-C USB port and features the 3.5mm audio jack.
Moto G6 Plus Expected Price
The Moto G6 Plus was announced in two variants with 4GB and 6GB RAM, both with 64GB of internal storage. It starts at an MSRP of €299 (approx Rs 24,300), which we speculate is for the higher RAM version. It’s not confirmed whether the company will launch both versions of the device in India but we expect it to be priced slightly lower here.

Moto has already launched its Moto G6 smartphone in India, which comes with Face Unlock feature and sports a fingerprint scanner as well. It features a 5.7-inch Full HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and below the display is the home button that doubles as the fingerprint sensor. The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 450 SoC, coupled with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There’s also a 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM variant of the phone.
Coming to the optics, the smartphone features a 12MP primary sensor with a f/1.8 aperture along with a 5MP secondary depth sensor with a f/2.2 aperture. The 16MP front-facing camera sports an LED flash. Additionally, the whole package is backed by a 3,000 mAh battery that also supports TurboPower charger included in the box. The Moto G6 is priced at Rs 13,999 for the 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM variant, while the 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM version costs Rs 15,999.
Moto G6 Play Specifications
Coming to the Moto G6 Play, it is equipped with a 5.7-inch Max Vision edge-to-edge display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It runs on the Snapdragon 430 processor and comes in a single 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage model, which is priced at Rs 11,999. In the camera department, the Moto G6 Play comes with a 13MP camera with phase detection autofocus (PDAF). On the front is an 8MP sensor with an LED flash. It is backed by a 4,000mAh battery that company claims can last up to 32 hours on a single charge.
