HIGHLIGHTS

Moto G5 could be soon be offered in Blue Sapphire colour option. The smartphone was launched in Lunar Grey and Fine Gold colour option

Motorola could soon add a third colour option to its recently launched G5 smartphone. According to images posted by Roland Quandt, Moto G5 could soon arrive in Blue Sapphire colour option in addition to Lunar Grey and Fine Gold variants launched at MWC last month. The press renders posted by Quandt suggest the handset will sport blue anodised aluminium back with black front.

There is no official word on the availability of Blue Sapphire variant just yet. There is a possibility that this variant might be a limited edition model and might launch only in select markets. Also there aren't any information whether the new colour option is only for G5 or also being extended to G5 Plus.

To recall, Moto G5 and G5 Plus were announced at Mobile World Congress last month with all-metal unibody design. Moto G5 and G5 Plus sport a 5-inch and 5.2-inch full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Powering G5 is Snapdragon 430 processor while G5 Plus gets the power-efficient Snapdragon 625 chipset. Moto G5 offers upto 3GB RAM and 32GB storage while G5 Plus bumps the RAM to 4GB.

Both the smartphone differ primarily in the camera department with G5 Plus getting better optics. Moto G5 features a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP front camera. The larger G5 Plus gets a 12MP rear camera with dual-pixel autofocus and f/1.7 aperture. In our review, we observed that "G5 Plus produces impressive contrast and dynamic range, taking photos that other phones in its category can't."

Motorola recently launched two variants of G5 Plus in India priced at Rs 14,999 and Rs 16,999 respectively. The company did not launch regular G5 variant and it this blue sapphire becomes only available on G5 then it would end up being a disappointment for Indian consumers.
