Motorola Moto E second gen may be announced at MWC 2015

HIGHLIGHTS

Images of the next generation Moto E leaked online, launch expected soon.

Motorola is expected to unveil a successor to its budget Moto E smartphone soon. Leaked images of the next generation Moto E have already surfaced online, suggesting that the company may be planning to launch the device as early as March at the MCW 2015.

The alleged press render shows the front and the back of the upcoming device. The images show that a second speaker grille on the front is missing, and the proportions suggest that this may be a smaller device than the Moto E. The leaked images show that the successor to Moto E may come with a front camera, although there is no camera flash. Secondary noise-cancelling microphone on the rear cover have also been spotted.

Rumors about the next generation Moto E surfaced earlier this month, when a new Motorola model without LTE connectivity was spotted at the FCC. The device is listed under the ID IHDT56QF1 and sports model no. 45833. The device specifications suggest it will be a budget device, similar to its predecessor.

The rumored specifications of second generation Moto E include a 4.5” qHD display with 540 x 960 pixels resolution. It will feature a 5 MP rear camera without Flash, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC coupled with 1 GB of RAM. The device is expected to launch with the latest Android Lollipop OS out of the box, as revealed in the images. Connectivity options included in the device are WiFi, Bluetooth, USB and 3G support.
