Meizu to launch its first device in India on May 18

Meizu m1 Note to launch on May 18 in India, features a 5.5 inch HD display, octa-core processor and Android 4.4.

Chinese handset marker Meizu is planning to make a debut in India on May 18. The company has posted a teaser about the launch event on its India’s Facebook page.

The teaser image shows the date 5.18 see! see!" with the words “are you ok?” mocking Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun who opened with the line at the recent Mi 4i launch. The text is attributed to the Meizu CEO Huang Zhang who is also known as Jack Wong.  Meizu’s Twitter handler stated that, "We've heard you and here is the date." The company is expected to launch the m1 note at the event, but their might be more surprises in stored for us. The Meizu m1 Note has a 5.5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The device has a MediaTek's octa-core processor with 2 GB of RAM and runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS with the companies Flyme 4 UI on top. The smartphone has 8 / 16 GB internal memory expandable up to 32 GB. It has a 13 MP primary camera with features like LED flash, HDR, Face detection, geo tagging and more. It also has a 5 MP front camera for clicking selfies.

Connectivity options included in the Meizo m1 Note are Dual SIM support, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB, GPS and integrated Radio. The smartphone has an inbuilt accelerometer, gyro, proximity and compass sensors. It is backed by a 3,140 mAh battery that according to company claims delivers 40 hours of talk time and 60 hours of music play. The handset measures 150.7×75.2×8.9mm, and weighs 145 grams. The m1 Note is available in White, blue, green, yellow and pink colors. The Meizu m1 Note is priced at around $220 which is approx Rs 13,800. However, the company may price the handset more aggressively in the growing Indian market to compete with offerings from Chinese Xiaomi, Oppo, Gionee smartphone makers as well as other domestic vendors. Meizu had announced that it had sold over 1 million, 1.5 million and 2 Million handsets in the months of December, January and March respectively.
