Maxx Mobile to launch 17 new phones including 9 smartphones

Maxx Mobile targets the budget conscious consumers with its new feature and Android smartphones.

Domestic handset maker Maxx Mobile is planning to launch 9 smartphones and 8 feature phones over the next few weeks. The smartphones will be priced between Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 6,000.

Maxx Mobile Chairman and Managing Director Ajjay Agarwal stated that the devices are meant for budget conscious smartphone users who wish to upgrade to better technology at affordable prices. Max Mobile's revenues in the 2013-14 fiscal stood at Rs. 600 crore and the company aims to gain Rs 3,600 crore in revenue with the new launch of the new devices.  

Maxx Mobile Chairman and Managing Director Ajjay Agarwal stated, "We will launch nine new smartphones models and 8 new feature phone models this month. Going forward, our focus will be on budget smartphones." He added the launches include a low cost Android-based smartphone priced at just Rs 2,000, which will be one of the most affordable Android smartphone in India.

"These handsets will target two segments – first-time smartphone users that is people upgrading from feature phones with devices priced between Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 3,500," he said. He added that the select models will be launched exclusively via ecommerce sites while the feature phones will be sold through the trade channel.

Google is planning to launch its first Android One smartphone in India in October. The internet giant has tied up with domestic manufacturers Micromax, Intex, Karbonn and Spice to launch the Android One devices. The first device will be launched by Micromax in October and will be priced at $100. The Android smartphone will have a 4.5 inch display screen, dual sim capabilities, expandable memory, mediates processor and integrated FM Radio.
