LG to make “Uni8”, its first Windows Phone based smartphone since 2010
The South Korean manufacturer is set to return to the Windows Phone platform after dropping it in 2010, according to @evleaks.
After giving up on the Windows Phone platform 4 years ago, LG is preparing to make a return to the Microsoft-owned platform for mobile devices with a new Windows Phone 8.1 based smartphone. According to the popular leakster @evleaks, the new Windows Phone 8.1 based LG smartphone might be called Uni8 and is expected to surface later this year.
There isn’t much detail available when it comes to the specifications of the phone as of now but it looks like the Uni8 will feature a slim body without any physical hardware keys on the front.
At the Mobile World Congress earlier this year, Microsoft had confirmed LG to be one of its partners that will come out with Windows Phone 8.1 based smartphones. The last time LG came out with a Windows Phone based smartphone (back in 2010) was a Windows Phone 7 based smartphone.

@evleaks has leaked an image of the so-called Uni8 which shows very slim bezels on the Uni8. So far, there are no indications whether the specifications of the Uni8 will match LG’s flagship smartphones like the G2 or the upcoming G3.
Apart from LG, other companies like Lenovo, Samsung, ZTE, Huawei and others are also expected to come out with new WIndows Phone 8.1 based devices. @evleaks has also hinted that HTC is preparing to launch a “W8” flagship smartphone for Verizon later this year.
