LG teases G2 again in fresh August 7 event press invites
HIGHLIGHTS

LG is gearing for some major announcements at the August 7 event in New York. The company is expected to unveil a range of new devices including new flagship handset, tablet and wearable smart device.

LG has sent out press invites for its August 7 event in New York, and is set to unveil its next flagship smartphone, dubbed the LG G2. The invite features first official look of the much talked-about and rumoured smartphone.

The smartphone, as per the official look, has up and down arrows with a button in the middle. According to previous rounds of leaks, that is supposed to be phone’s volume keys and sleep button.

Interestingly, LG recently dropped the Optimus tag from its flagship series of smartphones. The company will now be using ‘G’ tag for its premium/flagship smartphones.

The LG G2 is expected to come with a 5.2-inch display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.2GHz quad-core processor along with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone has a 13MP rear camera and is going to run the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

The G2 is believed to serve as the basis of the next gen Nexus smartphone – like the Optimus G was for the Nexus 4. LG, however, has stated it won’t launch the Nexus 5, but reports say the phone is already in the works.

Separately, LG is expected to showcase a new G-series of devices including GPAD, G Hub, and G Glass. Details of the new LG G series are scarce. Stay tuned for more updates. In the meantime, check out below the official LG G2 launch event teaser film:
