LG Optimus 3D Max available online for Rs. 28,990 in India

The successor to the LG Optimus 3D, LG Optimus 3D Max, is now available in India via online retailer Flipkart at Rs. 28,990. LG, however, hasn’t made an official announcement regarding an India launch yet.

Introduced at the Mobile World Congress event held earlier this year, the LG Optimus 3D Max runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system (scheduled to receive Android 4.0 ICS update later this year) and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-coreCortex-A9 processor on the TI OMAP 4430 chipset, with 1GB of RAM, and a PowerVR SGX540 GPU. The device sports a 4.3-inch 3D auto stereoscopic display with WVGA 800 x 480 pixels resolution.

Other specifications of the LG Optimus 3D Max include dual 5MP rear autofocus cameras (1080p 2D video, 720p 3D recording) with LED flash, 0.3MP frontal camera, 8GB built-in storage, and a microSD card slot – up to 32 GB. For connectivity, the device supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G and GPRS. The LG Optimus 3D Max comes with a 1,520 mAh battery, rated to deliver 422 hours of standby time, and up to 4 hours of talk time.

Prior to the MWC launch, LG was long rumoured to be working on an slimmer version of the LG Optimus 3D (read our review), then dubbed as the Optimus 3D 2. At 0.38 inch thick, the new LG Optimus 3D Max is indeed slimmer than the original Optimus 3D.

The Optimus 3D recently received a major price cut. The device, originally launched at Rs. 37,000 last year, was spotted at The Mobile Store with a price tag of Rs. 19,999. Other online retailers such as Flipkart are selling the device at Rs. 28,430.

LG, meanwhile, is reportedly going to release quite a few Optimus smartphones – the Optimus L5, Optimus 4X HD and Optimus Vu – in India soon.
