Google reports that Jelly Bean OS has finally left Gingerbread OS behind to get roughly 38% of the total users on the Android platform.
Google’s Android platform version dashboard reports that Android Jelly Bean (versions 4.1 and 4.2) adoption, has finally surpassed that of Android 2.3 Gingerbread, making it the most used Android operating system, from figures based on the number of users visiting the Google Play store.
According to Google, 37.9 percent of Android users now use Jelly Bean devices. While 23.3 percent users have ICS devices, 34.1 percent are stuck with Gingerbread, and 3.1 percent have Froyo.
Google has recently tweaked its algorithm to count Android users to get these numbers. The data was collected based on Google Play store usage over a two-week period ending July 8. The new update will be helpful to developers to target users who utilize Google Play, and their Android devices, actively.
