Indian telcos gear up for BlackBerry 10 devices: Report
RIM's much-awaited BlackBerry 10 is now creating buzz in India with the local telecom operators Vodafone and Aircel revealing their plans to launch BB10 devices in the country soon after the global launch.
With only few weeks remaining for the official announcement of RIM’s BlackBerry 10 OS, the Indian telecom operators have already started preparing for the new OS. Vodafone and Aircel are likely to be the first telcos to bring the BB10-based devices in India soon after the global launch.
Aircel has said it will be releasing new range of BB devices weeks after the launch whereas Vodafone will be making an announcement only after the global launch. Telecom giant Idea and Reliance have however no plans of launching the BlackBerry 10 smartphones. Airtel and Tata haven’t yet revealed their plans with regards to BB10.
BlackBerry smartphones, unlike the other smartphones, come with dedicated carrier plans including BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) for consumers and BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) for organisations and corporate email.
RIM is scheduled to unveil the BlackBerry 10 OS and new range of BlackBerry devices on January 30. The new OS is believed to help the company regain the market share lost to Google’s Android and Apple’s iPhone.
The media is already abuzz with the leaks and details of the new BB10 devices. The latest is a set of promotional pics of the BB10 showcasing various features offered by the platform. The leaked pics, also considered to be the official retail ads, show the BlackBerry Z10 full-touch smartphone with black and white colours. One of the pics shows the device with a red holster.
