With the new affordable 3G handset, Idea aims to catalyze data penetration in the country.
Idea Cellular has introduced new entry-level smartphone – !d 4000. Priced at Rs. 4,999, the smartphone supports dual-SIM, runs Android Jelly Bean OS and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor along with 512 MB of RAM.
The !d 4000 has a 4-inch display with 320 x 480 pixels resolution. The smartphone has a 3.2MP main camera. It comes with 4GB of built-in storage, expandable up to 32GB via microSD.
For connectivity, the smartphone supports EDGE, 3G, USB and Bluetooth 4.0. The id 4000 is powered by a 1500 mAh battery.
Like all other Idea 3G smartphones, the new device also comes with special bundled plans for Idea users – 3G data benefits of 1.6 GB 3G data and Free Idea TV for 3 months, with a pack priced at Rs. 259 for existing subscribers, and 1.6 GB 3G data and Free Idea TV for 3 months, with a pack priced at Rs. 261 for new subscribers. The telecom operators have been offering self-branded smartphones to push the data penetration in the country. Recently, MTS India launched Blaze 5.0 smartphone with 100GB bundled data. The Blaze 5.0 is a dual SIM smartphone featuring 5-inch display, quad-core processor and Android Jelly Bean.
