Huawei has launched the Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus, successors to the company's Nova mid-range smartphones announced last year. The biggest addition this year are the dual-rear cameras, which is now becoming a standard feature on Huawei and Honor smartphones.

Huawei Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus take design elements seen on smartphones from company's sister brand Honor. Both handsets feature dual-rear cameras; a combination of 12MP + 8MP sensors with f/1.8 aperture and support for optical zoom. There is also a 20MP front camera with support for full HD video recording and beauty 4.0 mode.

Huawei Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus sport 5-inch and 5.5-inch displays, with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. The smartphones are powered by the company's custom-designed Kirin 659 processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage on Nova 2, and 128GB on Nova 2 Plus. The handsets run EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7.0 Nougat and feature a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

On the connectivity front, Huawei Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus support Wi-Fi 802.11bgn, Bluetooth 4.2 with Apt-X support, GPS and microUSB port. The handsets include a gravity sensor, proximity sensor, light sensor, gyroscope and compass. The Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus are 6.9mm thick and weigh 143 grams and 163 grams respectively. The Huawei Nova 2 will be available in black, gold, rose gold, blue, green colour variants at 2,499 Yuan (approximately Rs 25,000). The larger Nova 2 Plus will also be available in black, gold, rose gold, blue, green colour option at 2,899 Yuan (approximately Rs 29,000). The smartphones can be pre-booked for 100 Yuan (approximately Rs 1,000) and will go on sale starting June 16 in China.
