Huawei Mate 20 Pro images leaked, 6 GB RAM/128 GB variant may cost 899 GBP
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is expected to launch running on the Kirin 980 SoC. It is rumoured to launch in 6 GB, 8GB RAM variants with up to 512GB of internal storage.
Huawei is all set to launch the Mate 20 series of smartphones, the Huawei Mate 20 and the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, on October 16, at an event in London. There have been many leaks that reveal the specs and design of the upcoming devices, but there was not much known about their prices, till now. As per the well-known tipster Roland Quandt, Huawei will launch a 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model of the Mate 20 Pro smartphone and it could be priced at a whopping 899 pounds (Approx $1,190 or Rs 88,000) in the UK.
According to GSMArena, this is a 100-pound price bump as compared to the price of the Huawei P20 Pro, and a 130-pound hike in comparison with the cost of the Mate 10 Pro. If true, the company will add to the list of brands who have dramatically increased the price of their flagship devices. The company is said to launch other variants of the phone with 8GB of RAM, which could be offered with options of 256GB or 512GB of storage to select from and, obviously, users will have to shell out more money for them.
However, is the phone really worth all that money? We will surely find out when it launches but leaks suggest that it could come laden with the latest hardware and technology, including a Voice ID which is supposed to be some sort of voice unlocking feature involving bone conduction. According to Israeli tech news platform Girafa, Huawei says the Mate 20 phones will be the first in the world to support voice unlock. The feature is said to be so effective that users can use their voice even in crowded, noisy places to unlock the phone. The Mate 20 Pro is also expected to ship with an under-display fingerprint sensor.
Both, the Mate 20 Pro and the Mate 20 smartphones are rumoured to feature 24MP front cameras with Vertical Surface Emitting Laser (VSEL) module for enabling the Face Unlock feature, along with a triple-lens camera setup on the back. As per winfuture.de, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro could sport a 40MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture and use “Light Fusion” technology for better pictures. Reportedly, there is also a 20MP telephoto camera with f/2.4 aperture, and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor. The main camera will reportedly feature AI Smart Zoom, moving object detection, automatic focus, and zoom tracking. There's also another feature called Hivision, which seems to be an AR-based feature that is similar to Google Lens.
Finally, both the phones might be powered by the Kirin 980 processor — the first 7nm processor that was announced at IFA 2018. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is expected to feature a 6.9-inch curved display, IP67 rating and a 4,200 mAh battery. There is a possibility that Huawei may bundle a 40W charger that can charge up to 70 percent battery in 30 minutes. The phone will reportedly support wireless charging, and could also double as a wireless charger for Huawei's Freebuds 2, which may be unveiled at the same event. The standard Mate 20 could come equipped with a 6.53-inch screen with 4GB RAM, 4,000 mAh battery, and IP53 rating. The smartphones are expected to run on Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9.0 on top.
