Huawei Ascend G615 unveiled with 4.5-inch HD display and quad-core CPU

Huawei has introduced two new smartphones – Ascend G615 and G510.

Huawei has announced a new Ascend-series smartphone called the G615. The new Huawei device has a 4.5-inch display with 720p resolution.

Believed to be a mid-range device in line with the Ascend smartphones recently shown at the CES 2013 event, the Huawei G615 runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (Jelly Bean update will be rolled out mid-2013) and is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core HiSilicon K3V2 processor. There’s a 1GB of RAM and 8GB of built-in storage as well as a microSD slot for storage expansion.

The Ascend G615 has an 8MP camera with support for 1080p HD recording and comes with a decent 2150 mAh battery. Other features include Dolby Digital Plus audio tech, 3G with 21Mbps HSDPA, Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0.

The Huawei G615 will be initially available in Germany with a price tag of €300 (Rs. 21,445 approximately). The device is expected to hit other markets later this year.

The launch of the G615 comes shortly after the company quietly announced the Ascend G510. The device features 4.5-inch IPS display with a WVGA resolution (854 x 480 pixels), 1.2GHz dual-core Mediatek MT6577 chip with PowerVR SGX531 GPU, 512MB of RAM, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, a 5MP rear camera and a 0.3MP front camera and 4GB built-in storage. The device is going to hit Europe first and eventually other markets.
