HTC Opera UL rumoured as the official Facebook phone

Rumours that a HTC-Facebook phone is under the works will not just die, despite Mark Zuckerberg officially denying such plans. The latest round of rumours suggest the HTC is developing the device with a codename of Opera UL.

According to a Pocket-Lint report, which cites a ‘very reliable source’, the HTC Opera UL is an “OEM product” for the social networking giant. “It is the Facebook phone, made for Facebook,” says the source.

The report goes on to claim that this solves two ‘mysteries’. “First, the rumours that HTC is manufacturing an official Facebook phone are correct. And second, the enigmatic HTC Opera UL is real and it will be Zuckerberg and his company’s first foray into the smartphone hardware market,” highlights the report.

Moreover, the smartphone in question has surfaced in the NenaMark2 results database, which shows the device is powered by a 1.4GHz (probably dual-core) Krait processor with Adreno 305 graphics, and that it sports an HD display. It’s currently running on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean.
