HIGHLIGHTS

The HTC One E8 features 5-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 801 processor and 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

HTC has formally announced a new variant of its flagship smartphone. Called HTC One (E8), the smartphone resembles the One M8 a lot but features a polycarbonate unibody frame, rather than the metal shell of the M8. Moreover, the HTC One (E8) has about same dimensions, but is slightly thicker at 9.9mm and lighter at 145g.

The HTC One E8 is a dual-SIM smartphone, sporting a 5-inch full HD display. It has a 13MP main camera with a BSI sensor, f/2.2 aperture and a single-LED flash, and a 5MP front camera with BSI sensor. The smartphone runs 4.4.2 with HTC Sense 6 and is powered by a Snapdragon 801 chipset. It has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage expandable with microSD cards of up to 128GB. The HTC One E8 is powered by a 2,600 mAh battery.

HTC says the One E8 is built for fashion-conscious. The E8 will be available in four colors: Polar White, Electric Crimson, Maldives Blue, and Misty Gray.

“The HTC One (M8) sets a new smartphone standard and now we’re taking it in another exciting direction,” says HTC’s CEO Peter Chou. “Combining style and substance, the HTC One (E8) represents the incredible experience people expect from an HTC One device with a look and feel that’s unlike anything else out there today. If you’re looking for the best flagship smartphone experience, but want to stand out from the crowd, this is the phone for you.”

The HTC One (E8) will be available in select markets early this month. Also read: HTC One M8 Review
