HTC sells 50,000 One (E8) units within 15 minutes of its launch in China
HIGHLIGHTS

The all-new HTC One (E8) has the same specs as the flagship HTC One (M8). The only difference is that the E8 comes in a plastic body instead of an aluminium one. Can HTC achieve a similar success same in India as it has in China?

HTC One (E8) has sold over 50,000 units in just 15 mins of its launch in China. The mid-range smartphone has generated a huge interest in the public with over 2 million people “reserving” the device at a large online retailer.

The HTC One E8 has the same specs as the HTC One M8, including the Snapdragon quad-core 2.5GHz processor and Android v4.4 Kitkat out of the box. It has a 5-inch LCD 3 display and comes with a plastic body. HTC has eliminated the duo cam and aluminum body of the M8 to make the device cheaper.

It has a 13MP rear camera with Autofocus and LED flash as well as a 5MP front camera for video calling. The smartphone has 16GB/32GB on-board storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. Connectivity options included are 4G LTE connectivity, WiFi and GPS/GLONASS. The smartphone packs a 2600mAH battery and is available in Polar White, Maldives Blue, Electric Crimson and Misty Grey colors.

The One E8 doesn't have the metal construction and the Ultra-Pixel duo camera of HTC's flagship M8, but that has reduced the price of the device to $450 (approx), which makes it about half the price of One M8 and other devices in its class, including the Galaxy S5.

After a substantial revenue drop in the month of May, HTC seems to have realized how to gain profit over the next coming months.

The HTC One E8 is expected to debut in India next month. The price of the smartphone has not been announced yet but it is speculated that HTC may price it below Rs 30,000 to compete with other mid-range smartphones. Stay tuned, we will update you with the prices and availability as soon as it is announced for India.
