HTC launches 4.3-inch quad-core Desire 500 running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean

HTC has launched the Desire 500 in Taiwan. The smartphone runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean skinned with the HTC Sense 5 UI and shows off a 4.3-inch display.

HTC is on a roll with the launch of smartphones globally. The company has added another smartphone to its Desire range, the Desire 500. The smartphone as of now has been launched in Taiwan and there is no information about a global release date.

The HTC Desire 500 sports a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor along with 1GB RAM. It houses a 4.3-inch display with a resolution of 480×800 pixels. The phone is 9.9mm in thickness and weighs a mere 123 grams. It supports 4GB built-in storage expandable up to 64GB via a microSD card. The rear of the smartphone has an 8MP camera and the front has a 1.6MP camera for video calling.

The Desire 500 features Beats Audio. But unlike the One or the One Mini, doesn’t house speakers in the front. An 1800mAh battery powers the smartphone which the company claims will last for 17.8 hours of talk time and 401 hours of standby time. The smartphone runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS skinned with Sense 5 UI. The HTC Desire 500 retails for NT$11,900 (Rs. 24,000 approx.). The smartphone will have a dual-SIM variant available in selective markets too.
